IVF and post polypectomy updates:
Thank Jesus, I am off birth control pills. They made me a royal bitch, and so irritated, I felt like I could have had a Annual moment (look up Tina Fey SNL skit = fire baby) one one hand, then shift to moments of sobbing buckets over nothing. I'm also done taking my first round of antibiotics, which is awesome. No side effects of note, but the less pills I take, the better off I feel. It still feels wrong/weird to be on so many drugs.
I'm currently doing self inject Lupron shots, which basically makes my body shut down any kind of hormone production. This lets the RE dictate what the hormone levels will be in my body. This Friday, we will supplement the Lupron shots with two other shots of follicle stimulators (stims) called Bravelle and Menopur. Lara has actually been and will continue to administer all my shots. That means she gets up with me everyday at 530am - camping, weekend, work day, whatever - to administer the shot. I was really touched she is so excited to be as involved with every step of the process as she can. She even puts together my pills to take for the week in a pill organizer, which range from 5-12 pills per day. I feel blessed/lucky to have such a supportive and loving partner.
I got my polyps removed and my uterine lining scraped on Wednesday. All I remember was laughing with Lara about my sexy hospital gown, telling her I specifically wanted a bagel with strawberry cream cheese when I woke up, chit chatting with the doctors while the anesthesia guy hooked me up with my pre-surgery cocktail...and then I was GONE. Lights out. No recollection of being wheeled off, nothing. Surgery was quick, and I woke up in recovery in my nice heated (and sexy, mind you) hospital gown, and said I was in pain. I was immediately given liquid Vicodin (tastes like what I think gasoline might taste like) laced with Tylenol. Lara talked to the RE after my surgery, and he showed her before/after photos of my uterus. Apparently, it was a jungle in there...full of fibrous and bulbous polyps. She was creeped out, and really wants me to see these photos. I will Friday at my post op appointment. I guess the only other thing of note was it was difficult for my RE to remove some of the polyps, so he had to change up his instruments to cut them off. He took a sample of those polyps and sent them off to be biopsied, since they seemed abnormal. He told Lara it's just a precaution and probably nothing, so I will keep you all informed of the results after I do my visit Friday.
Other than that, we're just chugging along with IVF...got our medications paid in full, got our loan approved for doing this IVF cycle, and now were just looking forward to the egg retrieval stage! I am extremely relieved to have incurred minimal debt throughout this whole infertility process the last two years. Ugh, its just one less heavy burden for us!
PA Rental:
Now, onto our rental we'll be moving into when we get to PA. Lara was put in contact with a realtor who has helped faculty with rentals and home purchases. He finally sent us photos of the house, which is about half a mile from campus. It is a 3 bed / 1 bath home, and I really love what I see. Cannot wait to get settled in!
